Baptismal Font
The new baptistery includes the original hand carved granite bowl. An oblong octagonal pool of immersion was created for the baptism of adults. It rests off the floor on stone feet, much like ancient Roman sarcophagi. The water was made to recirculate. Behind the font are the holy oils reliquaries carved out of a former confessional. The walls of the church were cut open and bronze and glass reliquaries were set in cast crystal and glass so that one can see through into the garden outside the church. Carved above into each of the three glass panels are the names and symbols of each of the oils.
